Announcements for Friday, July 16th

Just a couple announcements to make before the tournament.Tee times start at 3:52, so people ought to plan to get there at least by 3:30 or so. Check in will be before we tee off. Everyone will pay their own green fees (around $40) at the clubhouse, and then pay the $25 (cash or check)fee to the person at check in.

The welcoming committee welcomes all the participants. We are just a couple of days away and there are a number of players that think this is their year to win the tournament. So good luck to everyone.

There is an individual competition where there will be a gross winner and a net winner. There is also a team competition called "The Hot Seat". This is a game where you take the two best scores on a hole. The catch is that one of the scores has to be the person on the hot seat. You are on the hot seat every fourth hole. For example, Schafer might be on the hot seat on #1, #5, #9, and #13. And Tyler would take #2, #6, #10 etc. You have to take every fourth hole so there might be some strategizing to take advantage of certain players strengths. The order must be designated before teeing off on the 1st tee, on your honor. The last two holes will just be your two best balls. There will also be two closest to the holes and one long drive competition.

Also, there is going to be a raffle at the end.How does it all work? Well, there is a $25 entrance fee in addition to the green fees. Those will need to be paid Saturday morning upon check in. We also want to encourage everyone to make a donation of you'd like, big or small. Anything would be gladly accepted and will add to the post-tournament fun. We will give some of the donations away for prizes and the others we will raffle off at the end.

We appreciate everyone that has donated this year and in the past. We use the donations as prizes and for the raffle at the end to make it fun for people to possibly win a prize. We will not have a professional photographer out there to capture moments throughout the day, so we encourage everyone to bring a camera and take photos and video to add to the post tournament slideshow that we'll post on the site.Instructions for the contests will be handed out at check in.
After the tournament we will head directly to the Murphy residence for the post game awards and celebration. All are invited and we will have some drinks and figure and something to eat.

The team colors seem to be a big hit and so we’ll continue with that tradition. We will get the teams and colors out soon so you can find a collared shirt of your team’s color.

Welcome 2010

Announcements for August 8th

Just a couple announcements to make before the tournament.

Tee times start at 9, so people ought to plan to get there at least by 8:30 or so. Check in will be before we tee off. Everyone will pay their own green fees ($40) at the clubhouse, and then pay the $25 (cash or check)fee to the person at check in. You will receive your gift bag after checking in. If you don’t know where the course is,,, google it.

We appreciate everyone that has donated this year and in the past. We use the donations as prizes and for the raffle at the end to make it fun for people to possibly win a prize

We will not have a professional photographer out there to capture moments throughout the day, so we encourage everyone to bring a camera and take photos and video to add to the post tournament slideshow that we'll post on the site.

Instructions for the contests will be handed out at check in. Then we will take some minutes after playing to award the prizes and congratulate the winners and cool down with drinks and such.

The team colors seem to be a big hit and so we’ll continue with that tradition. We are setting the dress code for this year’s tournament as Khaki shorts (or pants depending on whether you have your tour card or not) and the colored collared shirt of your team’s color. As far as grooming, we are asking that everyone be clean shaven, and hair maintained at an appropriate length (no, just kidding on the grooming).

Teams will be announced very shortly so stayed tuned here on the site or on your cellular.

Instructions

The welcoming committee welcomes all the participants. We are less than a week away and the excitement level is maybe the highest its ever been for the tournament. As you know, this is the 6th Annual Jackson Invitational and we appreciate all of you for helping this get to what it is today. Once again, we have some players that are new to the tourney and some that have been here since the beginning, so we thank you all for being here. It is anybody's race this year and we wish you all luck as you cram to get your game ready

There are a few things to go over before hand. Tee times start at 9:oo A.M. sharp, so arrive accordingly. There is an individual competition where there will be a gross winner and a net winner. There is also a team competition called "The Hot Seat". This is a game where you take the two best scores on a hole. The catch is that one of the scores has to be the person on the hot seat. Welcome to the 2008 Jackson Invitational

Further Instruction

Welcome back!!! We can't believe it is here again. This is a very special year as it is the 5th annual Jackson Invitational and could be the most exciting tournament we've had. Some of you have been here since the beginning, some just a year or two and some others will be playing for the first time and we are honored to have you all. We also want to thank you for your participation and all of your contributions that help make this a great event. We should have a very competitive race this year and everyone should have an excellent chance to win, now that Tiger is out for the season.

We are less than 3 weeks away now and want to get the word out early for people to reserve the date. Sept. 6 will come very fast, especially for those that are doing last minute cramming to get their golf swing ready. There are a few things to go over before hand. Tee times start at 7:oo A.M. sharp, so arrive accordingly (preferably around 6:30). Also, there is going to be a raffle at the end.

How are we going to get all these prizes you might ask. Well, there is a $25 entrance fee in addition to the green fees. Those will need to be paid Saturday morning upon check in. We also want to remind you that if you have something to donate, big or small, it is gladly accepted and adds to the post-tournament fun.

Information on the post-tournamnet ceremony will be coming shortly, so stay tuned and keep some time free. As for Teams and Team colors, we will be announcing those the week prior to the tournament and will have strict enforcement on team uniforms this year.

J.I. 2007

Hello everybody!!!

We are very excited about this year's Jackson Invitational. We have a few newcomers who are new to the JI and on behalf of the Jackson's we'd like to welcome you to this year's event. We appreciate everybody sacrificing their Saturday morning for some friendly yet competitive golf. There are a few things to go over before hand. I know this should have gone out earlier this week so forgive us.
Tee times start at 7:40 so arrive accordingly (preferably around 7:15).
There is an individual competition where there will be a gross winner and a net winner, if you don't know what that means, I'm not sure how you got in this tournament.
There is also a team competition called "The Hot Seat". This is a game where you take the two best scores on a hole. The catch is that one of the scores has to be the person on the hot seat. You are on the hot seat every fourth hole. For example, Burke might be on the hot seat on #1, #5, #9, and #13. And Grant would take #2, #6, #10 etc. You have to take every fourth hole so there might be some strategizing to take advantage of certain players strengths. (Please direct all strategy advice to Burke as no one but him make money from doing exactly that).
There will also be two closest to the holes and one long drive competition.
Also, there is going to be a raffle at the end and throughout the round you will have the opportunity to get extra raffle tickets. This will be explained further Saturday morning.
How are we going to get all these prizes you might ask. Well, there is a $25 entrance fee in addition to the green fees. Those will need to be paid Saturday morning upon check in.

I also want to remind you that if you have something to donate, big or small, it is gladly accepted and adds to the fun post tournament.

Now to the important stuff. Teams and Colors. Last year we assigned short colors to go with it but this year it might be a little frigid so short/pant colors are recommended but not mandatory.

Team Red Shirt/Black Shorts
Cody Jones (3)
Brent Hekekia (13)
JT Kaze (18)
Warner Murphy (24)

Team Cougar Blue Shirt/Brown Shorts (what color is it really? royal or navy?)
McLane Smith (4)
Schafer Jackson (10)
Chris Frampton (13)
Chris Lee (20)

Team Black Shirt/Khaki Shorts
Eric Jackson (5)
Dave Stewart (13)
Sam Palmer (14)
Matt Zeedik (16)

Team White Shirt/Navy Shorts
Burke Jackson (6)
Grant Jackson (7)
Bryce Winward (11)
Darek Giles (15)

OK, sorry for the long email and I probably forgot something semi-important but there was a lot to cover. The attachment is the Official Invite you can print that off and put it in the scrapbook that I'm sure you've made for past, present, and future Jackson Invitationals.

Let's all have a lot of fun as that is what this is really for. We mixed up the groups so take advantage of getting to know someone you might not know all that well.

Bring a camera if you can and take photos. We have a website/blog at jacksoninvitational.blogspot.com.

Email me or call me (801) 787-9156 or Grant (801) 787-8050 with questions or comments.
